Rock Farm Guest House

We stayed overnight at the Rock Farm Guest House, also home of Belize Bird Rescue (more about that below). We arrived a bit late and the owners accommodated us for a later check-in. The guest house was beautiful, clean, comfortable and large and we were disappointed we only had one night. We could have stayed there for a month! They had free wifi but there was also a cell signal. We highly recommend this place in the Belmopan area. Their number is: +501 610-0400. We paid $129 USD for the night and the breakfast.

We stayed (pictured here) in the “Yellow Head” room – definitely no lack of drawer space!
The Toucan room had its own private balcony which is great for bird viewing.
 Things to Know:
–There are a number of stairs to go up to get to each room
–They don’t accept guests under 12 years old
(due to the sensitive nature of the rescue birds that come to the property)
–They do have 3 dogs loose on the property.
However they didn’t bark, and didn’t bother us in any way.
They were sweet and not at all aggressive.

Mission Statement

“To encourage empathy for and awareness of the importance of the preservation of indigenous bird-life by means of education, conservation, enforcement and rehabilitation”

You have to stay here!

They Rehabilitate, rescue, and release,  birds  back. into the wild, when possible. There are many  feeding stations around the property and decks, and at 8:30am,  the owner described it as “the biggest bird  show in  Belize“. Although we couldn’t stay for it, the grounds and wild parrots and birdlife there was so awesome. If  you go to the roof deck in the am, you can view a  beautiful sunrise.
—You can visit their website, and become a member  to contribute to the amazing work they do, for as little  as $20/year. We did a family membership for  $40/year.
