Honduras February 2020 Birds&Wildlife

We saw a total of 27 new birds over 4 days – not bad
considering we got completely rained out the last day and a half!

Day 1: Arrival in Tegucigalpa, La Venta Sul park

  • White throated Magpie Jay
  • Masked Tityra
  • Canivet’s Emerald
  • Streak backed Oriole
  • Spot breasted Oriole
  • Elegant Trogon

Some other birds we saw that day: Western Kingbird, Western Tanager, Boat billed Flycatcher, Social Flycatcher, Tennesee Warbler, Yellow Warbler, Tropical Kingbird, Black Vulture, Turkey Vulture, White fronted Parrot, Scissor tailed Flycatcher.

Day 2: Picacho Park, Canal Seco, Rancho hotel y rastaurante, PANACAM

  • Bushy crested Jay
  • Band backed Wren
  • Rock Wren
  • Berylline Hummingbird
  • Honduran Emerald
  • Turquoise browed Motmot

Day 3: PANACAM, Luna del Puente, Rio Santiago Nature Resort

  • Keel billed Motmot
  • Gartered Trogon
  • Yellow throated Euphonia

Day 4: Rio Santiago, Cuero Y Salado Train Station, Refugio de Vida Silvestre Cuero y Salado

  • Collared Forest Falcon
  • Boat billed Heron
  • Green breasted Mango
  • Montezuma Oropendola
  • Chestnut headed Oropendola
  • White bellied Emerald
  • Violet Sabrewing
  • Long billed Hermit
  • Lesson’s Motmot
  • Rufous naped Wren
  • Yellow Winged Tanager
  • Ivory billed Woodcreeper

While our main objective was birding, you can’t help but notice other amazing creatures…….
