Caonillas Lakeview House

The most beautiful view in Utuado

A 5 min walk down the road will lead you to a wonderful family owned cafe called Cafe El Bohio. We stopped there several times!

Activities

The property is large allowing for a lot of birding!

There is a blow up double kayak which you can carry down to the lake (you’ll need two people for that) and they may have a paddleboard available.

A blow up is a bit more challenging to paddle than a standard kayak but we enjoyed being on the lake. We saw a huge Iguana, a Pelican diving for fish, as well as all the kingbirds hitting the water presumably for insects.

Rooms & Amenities

The apartment was simple and could definitely use some minor repairs and amenities which we suggested to the owner – who was very receptive! There are now also glamping style tents on the property.

The roosters will wake you at 330am (the coqui frogs are also active all night but didn’t bother us) but the bed was extremely comfortable and we slept very well.

With the fan on (which also drowns out some of the outside noise), the temp was nice and cool. There’s no A/C but it’s not needed. Hot water in shower also worked well.

Having a full kitchen was also great – fridge, sink, oven, stove and owner will be adding a microwave.

 The included WIFI worked Great!

There is little to no cell service unless you have Verizon – which covers all of Utuado.
We had a good signal the whole time with Verizon which is Claro here.
