Our fave place for winter beach birding

Nickerson Beach is one of our favorite places to see nesting shorebirds such as Piping Plovers, American Oystercatchers, Common Terns and Black Skimmers

While in Michigan for Presentations, we couldn’t resist heading to Ohio when we could for the Biggest Week in American Birding. We chose a hotel in MI that was equidistant to our presentations and Ohio birding!

We saw 3 new birds during our trip here this year – but weren’t expecting any! It’s always an amazing experience coming to this area during May migration – it never disappoints.

We saw a total of 12 new birds on our 4 day trip. Our first time at the Biggest Week in American Birding definitely did not disappoint with the most amazing closeup views of warblers. Day 1 we ended up with 100 species!
